Both executive directors Oliver Leki and Jochen Saier have extended their contracts with SC Freiburg until 2027.
Oliver Leki will continue to be responsible for the areas of finance, operations and marketing at SC Freiburg. Jochen Saier will carry on as chief sporting officer of the club, which, in addition to the SCF first team, includes the women’s and girls’ football department and the Freiburg football school (youth academy).
“SC Freiburg is currently going through what is probably the most successful period in the club’s history in terms of the football and business sides. Oliver Leki and Jochen Saier have played a key role in shaping this overall positive development over the past few years. We are very pleased that we were able to extend the contracts with both board members early,” said chairman of the supervisory board at SCF, Dr. Heinrich Breit. His deputy on the supervisory board, Johannes Baumgartner, added: “With their many years of service at the club, Oliver Leki and Jochen Saier represent the personnel continuity that makes our club as strong as it is. We in the supervisory board are convinced that they will continue to lead our club successfully with their proven abilities and personalities.”
Oliver Leki says about the extension: “SC Freiburg is special to me in many ways, and I feel very connected to the club. I am looking forward to the next few years and am convinced that together we will successfully continue the positive development of the past few years.” Jochen Saier said, “Being able to shape and watch the path of SCF for more than 20 years now means a lot to me. I look forward to continuing to be a part of this special club, which has developed continuously and is characterised by genuine collaboration at every level.”
Oliver Leki joined SC Freiburg as managing director in 2013 and has served as the club’s chief financial, operations and marketing officer since October 2014. Leki has been in the executive committee and supervisory board of the German Football League (DFL) and also sits on the executive committee of the German Football Association (DFB).
Jochen Saier has been working for SCF since 2002. From 2003 to 2013, the graduate sports economist became head of the Freiburg Football School (SC Freiburg’s youth academy), and in April 2013 took over the position of head of sport, together with Klemens Hartenbach, before being appointed to the chief sporting officer in October 2014. Saier also sits on the board of the Freiburg Football School Development Association and has been member of the DFL’s Football commission since 2016.
