He has already been at the club for seven years, and will be staying at the club for a bit longer. SC Freiburg have extended Noah Atubolu’s contract.
The goalkeeper joined the academy as a 13-year-old from Kooperationsverein Sportfreunde Eintracht Freiburg and has played in every age group team from U14 onwards. In the 2020/21 season, he moved up to the U23’s, and celebrated promotion to the 3. Liga with SC Freiburg II as the first choice goalkeeper. Atubolu has currently played 64 games in the Regionalliga and 3. Liga. He has been part of the first team goalkeeping set-up since last season. He also finds himself between the posts for the Germany U21 national team.
“Since his extension at the beginning of last season, Noah has once again noticeably developed. The current sporting model is working very well for him,” said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. “Noah exudes presence and confidence and is mastering all the elements of a very good goalkeeping game. We are looking forward to continuing to work together.
Noah Atubolu himself said: “I come from Freiburg and it is a really big thing for me to take the next step at this club. By playing in the 3. Liga and working daily with the first team I am able to further develop my game as a goalkeeper. I am looking forward to the next few years here and the club and with the boys.”
As usual, the terms of the contract will remain undisclosed.
