Goalkeeper Florian Müller has returned to SC Freiburg from fellow Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart.
The 25-year-old featured for SCF during the 2020/21 season when he joined on loan from Mainz 05 following the injury of Mark Flekken on the first day of that particular campaign. Müller made 31 appearances that term as the first choice keeper. He then joined VfB Stuttgart at the end of his loan spell. Müller has made a total of 122 appearances in the Bundesliga for Mainz, Freiburg and Stuttgart.
“We came to know and appreciate Florian as a fantastic goalkeeper and as a great person during his time with us,” explained sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. “Flo has a very good sporting base and he still has the potential for improvement. That is a great combination. We are delighted that he will complete our goalkeeping trio with his qualities. We have clear internal agreements and it’s a good feeling that we are going into the start of this long season with lots of competitions with the strong goalkeeping team of Benjamin Uphoff, Noah Atubolu and Florian Müller.”
Floran Müller is also delighted to be rejoining his former club: “I have fond memories of the season I had at SC and I want to build upon them. I’m looking forward to the competition in Freiburg and I can’t wait to take on the season with the fans behind us because I didn’t get to experience that two years ago because of COVID.”
Müller will wear the 21 shirt. Both parties have agreed not to disclose further details of the contract.
