Sport Club’s number one has committed his future to the club.
Mark Flekken has been with Freiburg since 2018 and has so far made 60 appearances for the club. In the summer, the 29-year-old was chosen to be the vice-captain by his teammates. Last November, Flekken was called-up to the Netherlands squad for the first time and he currently has four caps to his name. He is once again back in the squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches.
“Mark has fought his way back superbly well after his injury setback a couple of years ago. He is of great importance to us and he deserves his place in the Netherlands squad. It’s no coincidence that this has happened in such a short space of time,” said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. “Mark has everything you need as a goalkeeper in the modern game. He is comfortable with the ball, whether it is in his hands or at his feet. We are looking forward to continuing our work together, both personally and professionally.”
“The recent developments here in Freiburg have been more than positive, both for the team and for me personally. I am very much in the right place here at SC and I am proud of what we have so far achieved together. I want to continue to work hard in order to keep pushing,” said Mark Flekken.
Both parties have agreed not to share the details of the contract.
