Keven Schlotterbeck has joined VfL Bochum on loan for the remainder of the season.
Schlotterbeck joined the SC reserves in 2017 from fifth-division side TSG Backnang and went on to make his Bundesliga debut for the club in February 2019. The following season, the defender went on loan to Union Berlin and has since go on to feature 70 times in the Bundesliga (53 times for SC). Schlotterbeck will begin training with VfL on 2nd January.
“Keven came to us asking for a move in order to have the chance at more playing time. It was a fair request in our eyes, given that he had extended his contract over the summer,” said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. “The loan deal with Bochum is a good solution for both sides, as it gives Keven a chance to play as many minutes as possible with 19 Bundesliga games remaining this season.”
“My time in Freiburg was great, but lately I had been hoping to play more often,” said Schlotterbeck. “I want to thank SC Freiburg for giving me the opportunity to amass more playing time over the next six months. I will do everything I can to help VfL secure safety in the upcoming months.”
Details of the loan deal will remain undisclosed.
