The ball won’t roll again in the Bundesliga until January 21st. Here is an overview of the programme until then.
Things are slightly different this Bundesliga season: The winter break starts in the middle of November and the final two games of the first half of the season are to be played in January. Moreover, training restarts following the winter break at the start of the advent period. For the SC players, this means that after their match against Union Berlin – and eight double-game weeks in the first half of the season – they will enjoy a well-deserved holiday. Those players on international duty will still be playing however.
The team will be back on the training pitch on December 5th. In order to keep up their rhythm, they will play three friendlies behind closed doors over the Christmas period. They will face FC Luzern (09.12), SC Karlsruher (16.12) and then Young Boys (22.12). Shortly after the World Champions are crowned, another training-free week follows for the players between the end of the year and start of the new one. In the new year, SC will travel to Spain from the 4-14th of January for its winter training camp in Sotogrande.
The new footballing year kicks off a week after the players return from Spain – and it starts with a double-game week. In the first clash of 2023, SC visit VfL Wolfsburg (21.01.23, 15:30 CET). Eintracht Frankfurt are the first opponents to come to the Europa-Park Stadion in the new year (25.01.23, 20:30 CET). The official second half of the season begins with another home game as FC Augsburg come to town (28.01.23, 15:30 CET).
