With Nils Petersen, Mark Flekken and Jonathan Schmid all leaving the club, there were three vacancies in the five-man team council going into the new season. The squad voted to keep Christian Günter as captain, with Vincenzo Grifo and Maximilian Eggestein his vice-captains. Chicco Höfler and Lucas Höler are now the other two members of the team council.

“The fact that my teammates voted for me is really special. It’s an honour to captain my favourite club,” said Christian Günter. “The team council is a dynamic group and we’re all pleased to take on this responsibility over the coming months.”
