Defender Jordy Makengo has reached an agreement with SC Freiburg to extend his contract with the club.
Jordy Makengo moved from AJ Auxerre’s second team to the SC Freiburg U23s in the summer of 2021. Since then, the 22-year-old has made 45 appearances in the third division and started training with the first-team squad this season.
“Jordy has played his way into the first-team squad through his ongoing efforts in our second team. His pace and his ability to play in various positions are great attributes,” said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. “His natural qualities and his diligent hard work bode well for his further development – which could transpire very quickly. We’re really pleased that he’s extended his contract.”
Jordy Makengo said himself: “I’ve been here for two years and I’m progressing bit by bit, which I want to carry on doing at SC Freiburg. I feel fully fit again, following my injury in pre-season, and I would like to bring that energy onto the pitch.”
It was agreed that the details of the contract would not be made public.
