Yannik Keitel has agreed a deal to join VfB Stuttgart, with the 24-year-old set to leave SC after 13 years.

Keitel joined SC Freiburg in 2011 and made his way up the ranks of the club's youth sides. He won the U19 DFB-Pokal with the club in 2018, before making his professional debut in February 2020 away at Dortmund. Keitel made 79 appearances for SC first team across the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and UEFA Europa League.

"Yannik is one of the kids that came up through our academy," said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. "At this moment, it's the right decision for us to go our separate ways, in order to maybe one day find our way back together again. We wish Yannik all the best and will of course continue to keep an eye on his progression."

Keitel said, "I've been at the club since 2011 and have experienced a lot over the course of these 13 years. It was a very special time! After discussing it for a while, I've made the decision that this is the right decision for me to make now."
