SC and Lukas Kübler have reached an agreement to extend the contract of the player who has been at the club since 2015.
Lukas Kübler joined Freiburg nine-and-a-half years ago from SV Sandhausen, making the right-back the third-longest-serving member of the current SC squad. The 32-year-old has made 188 competitive appearances for the club, while also featuring in every Bundesliga match so far this season.
“This is now the tenth year in which Kübi has been at the club and throughout his time he has shown impressive tackling abilities, versatility, and ambition, among other traits. His development has gone hand-in-hand with that of the club on the whole,” said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. “Kübi serves as a good example that sticking with something and fighting through tough times pays off in the long run. With the career that he has had in football, he can also act as a good role model for the younger members of our squad.”
“I’ve got to know this club really well over the course of the last nine-and-a-half years. The familiar surroundings and the way the club and the people who work here go about things fit in well with where I am at right now. I’m looking forward to continuing to give it my all on that training pitch as well as to some more special moments on the weekends,” Lukas Kübler explained following the contract extension.
The details of the contract will remain undisclosed, as is customary.
