SC Freiburg have agreed a contract extension with centre-back Max Rosenfelder.
Rosenfelder was promoted to the first team from the U23s last year, but patellar tendinitis prevented him from making his Bundesliga debut in the season just gone. The 23-year-old returned to the pitch for the U23s in April, and was named in the first-team squad for the first time for the final game of the season against Union Berlin. The Freiburg-born man has made a total of 43 appearances in the 3. Liga.
“Max hasn’t had an easy year. He and everyone else have worked very hard for him to return. Now, we’re really happy to have him back on the pitch again,” said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. “His superb footballing ability combined with his work rate make us very excited about the future. We’re looking forward to seeing him develop further.”
Max Rosenfelder himself added: “I’ve rarely been so excited for pre-season, and I’ve enjoyed every training session with the team. Last year was difficult, but I felt like people believed in me. That’s why I’m pleased to sign a contract extension with my hometown club and I’m looking to pay back this belief they’ve put in me.”
The terms of the contract have not been disclosed.
