The DFL have released the fixture list for the 2022/23 season. The start of the season will see SC Freiburg travel to FC Augsburg, on the weekend of August 6th-7th. Borussia Dortmund will travel to the Europa-Park Stadion for SCF’s first home game of the campaign.

The Freiburg team were welcomed home with a rousing reception in front of the Stadttheater on Sunday, as more than 10,000 fans gathered in the Platz der Alten Synagoge. It was also a chance to say farewell to Andreas Kronenberg, Janik Haberer and Nico Schlotterbeck.

Freiburg lose the final on penalties

It wasn’t to be for SC Freiburg in Berlin. The club’s first ever DFB-Pokal final went all the way to the wire before RB Leipzig came out on top in the lottery of the penalty shootout. Maxi Eggestein (19') scored in the first half of normal time to give Freiburg the lead. Christopher Nkunku equalised (76') late on.
