SC Freiburg will use the current international break to play a friendly against SV Sandhausen. The game, to be played behind closed doors, will kick off at 14:00 CET on Thursday 27th.
The Bundesliga takes a back seat once again after the first three games of 2022, this time for international games around the world. The Africa Cup of Nations is into its knockout rounds, and regional football associations in Asia, North and South America, the Caribbean and Oceania have more World Cup qualifiers. The only SCF player to be representing his country is Wooyeong Jeong, the 22-year-old will join the South Korea squad for games against Lebanon on Thursday, and in Syria the following Tuesday. Both fixtures are part of round 3 of the World Cup qualifiers ahead of Qatar 2022 in November.
The rest of the squad has two days off, following the three-game week which included wins against Hoffenheim in the DFB-Pokal and Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. To keep the team in the swing of things, Christian Streich and his coaching staff have scheduled a somewhat more competitive test for Thursday afternoon, facing up against 2. Bundesliga side SV Sandhausen at the Dreisamstadion. The game will be played behind closed doors, but a match report will be published shortly afterwards.
