SC Freiburg and Wooyeong Jeong have agreed on a contract extension.
The 22-year-old joined SC from FC Bayern II in 2019/20, moving back on loan to FCB’s reserve side for the second half of that season. He then made his Freiburg debut on the opening matchday of 2020/21 in the Bundesliga. Since then, he has featured 48 times in all competitions for the club, scoring seven goals. The attacker has featured in every match to date this season. He made his senior debut for South Korea in March of this year.
“Wooyeong has simply developed really well and has improved once again this season,” said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. “Along with his footballing skills, he brings a massive amount of energy and intensity onto the pitch. These are attributes that embody our style of play. We’re therefore delighted that he’s extended his contract and we look forward to carry on working with him.”
Wooyeong Jeong commented himself: “I’m right at home with the team here and I’m pleased with my personal development, plus the team’s great first half to the season. I want to build on that and achieve as much as possible with SC Freiburg.”
All details of the contract will remain undisclosed.
