On Monday, twelve major European clubs revealed plans for the introduction of a "Super League." SC Freiburg categorically rejects such plans.
"The introduction of a so-called 'Super League' is the egotistical idea of a few clubs who are completely removed from the rest of the sport. Some of the planned UEFA Champions League reforms are also a step in the wrong direction. The current financial inequality will only get worse as a result. Only direct qualification on sporting merit from the national leagues should decide who competes in European competitions."

"The DFL opposes any concept of a European Super League. Economic interest of a few top clubs in England, Italy and Spain should not lead to the abolishment of established European football as a consequence. It would be irresponsible to irreparably damage the national leagues as the basis of European professional football. I therefore strongly support the join statement of UEFA, with the national associations and leagues in England, Italy and Spain."
