Despite the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, SC Freiburg recorded an annual net profit of €9.8 million for the 2020/21 financial year.
The club’s overall turnover rose to €110.1 million, with incoming transfer fees compensating for pandemic-related losses such as reduced sponsorship and ticket revenue. As a result of the increased turnover, SC Freiburg managed to make a net profit of €9.8 million at the end of the financial year.
SC Freiburg’s equity has also increased as of 30th June 2021 thanks to the positive end-of-year results, reading €93 million on the balance date, while the balance-sheet total came to €132.3 million.
Club chairman Oliver Leki (pictured) said: “In spite of the coronavirus pandemic and the additional costs involved in building the new stadium, SC Freiburg has had a good and stable year. This success boils down to our resolute transfer policy and the fact that the club continues to act in line with its overall strategy, whereby sporting and financial aspects are taken into equal consideration.”
